AAP Targets BJP Over ED-CBI Misuse, Seeks Bittu Apology

Chandigarh :

Aam Aadmi Party Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of misusing central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to pressure businessmen, university owners, and political leaders into joining the party.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Baltej Pannu alleged that individuals are first subjected to raids or issued notices by central agencies and later inducted into the BJP, after which the cases allegedly become inactive. He termed it a “political model” being followed by the BJP across the country.

Citing examples, Pannu referred to Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal and businessman Gaurav Bagga, claiming that notices and raids were followed by their induction into the BJP. He also alleged that AAP leader Sanjeev Arora was arrested after refusing to bow to pressure.

Targeting Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar, Pannu claimed the BJP was using fear and intimidation to expand its political base in Punjab.

Pannu also criticised Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu over his recent remarks against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Referring to Bittu’s visit to Dhuri Hospital, he said the Union Minister initially praised the hospital arrangements and later made contradictory statements claiming there were no patients present.

Condemning Bittu’s statement allegedly calling Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann an “ISI agent,” Pannu termed the remark irresponsible and insulting to the people of Punjab. He said Punjabis have always made sacrifices for the nation and do not need certificates of patriotism from BJP leaders.

Baltej Pannu demanded that Ravneet Singh Bittu either provide evidence for his allegations or publicly apologise to the people of Punjab. He also highlighted the Punjab government’s work in education, healthcare, free electricity, and infrastructure, stating that the Chief Minister has been working continuously for public welfare.
