Police Bust Vehicle Theft Gang, Recover 9 Stolen Vehicles

Acting on the directions of Harmandeep Singh Hans and under the supervision of Dilpreet Singh, Mohali Police launched a special drive to curb the rising incidents of vehicle theft in the city. The operation led to the arrest of four accused and the recovery of nine stolen vehicles
Addressing the media, Gurcharan Singh said that a team led by Sukhbir Singh achieved a major breakthrough in a vehicle theft case registered at Phase-1 Police Station.
The investigation began with the arrest of Harvinder Kumar, a resident of Balongi, on May 23, 2026. Police recovered a stolen motorcycle from his possession and later seized another unregistered Bullet motorcycle based on his interrogation.
Further investigation led to the nomination and arrest of Bharat Kumar, a resident of Sector 56, Chandigarh, on May 26. Police recovered an unregistered Activa scooter and another stolen motorcycle from his possession.
Based on Bharat Kumar’s disclosures, police also arrested Ishar Singh of Kurali and Jagdeep Singh of Sandhua village, Rupnagar district. The duo was apprehended along with a stolen motorcycle and, during police remand, led investigators to five more stolen motorcycles.
In total, Mohali Police recovered eight stolen motorcycles and one Activa scooter from the accused. Police officials stated that further interrogation is underway to uncover their involvement in other vehicle theft cases and to identify additional members of the network.
The successful operation marks a significant achievement for Mohali Police in its ongoing campaign against vehicle theft and organized crime in the region.
