67,000+ Drug Smugglers Arrested in Punjab Anti-Drug Crackdown

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan toady said that the Punjab Government’s intensified campaign against drug abuse has led to the arrest of more than 67,000 drug smugglers across the state so far.

Reaffirming the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics, Sandhwan said strict legal action is being taken against those involved in the supply and distribution of illegal drugs. He stressed that eliminating the drug menace requires active participation from society along with strong government action.
The Speaker appealed to citizens to share information about drug peddlers and suspicious activities with the police, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential. He said public cooperation is essential for making Punjab drug-free.
Sandhwan also urged parents to remain vigilant and spend quality time with their children to keep them away from harmful influences and substance abuse. He encouraged young people to adopt sports and focus on education, saying such activities help channel their energy in a positive direction.
Highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts, he said the anti-drug campaign has disrupted major drug supply networks and helped protect thousands of youths from falling prey to addiction. He reiterated that collective action by families, communities and law enforcement agencies is crucial to safeguarding Punjab’s future from the threat of drugs.
