BSNL Rolls Out BharatNet Udyami Scheme

Chandigarh:

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its BharatNet Udyami (BNU) Scheme along with a ₹259 monthly rural broadband plan aimed at strengthening digital connectivity in rural and semi-urban areas of Punjab.

According to the Principal General Manager Telecom, BSNL Punjab Telecom Circle, the initiative is part of the Government of India’s Digital India and BharatNet Mission, which focuses on expanding high-speed internet access and promoting digital inclusion.
Under the new ₹259 plan, rural consumers will get broadband speeds of up to 25 Mbps, unlimited data, unlimited voice calling across India, free installation and modem, along with access to Waves OTT entertainment services.
Officials said the plan is designed to benefit students, small businesses, homemakers and people working from home by improving access to affordable internet services.
Alongside this, the BharatNet Udyami Scheme will enable local entrepreneurs to set up optical line terminals (OLTs) at the Gram Panchayat level and expand Bharat Fiber (FTTH) services. The scheme is expected to generate self-employment opportunities for rural youth, along with incentives linked to active broadband connections.
BSNL said the initiative will help strengthen digital services such as online education, e-governance and telemedicine, while also supporting rural economic development through improved connectivity and entrepreneurship.
The telecom operator has urged local youth, entrepreneurs, panchayat representatives and self-help groups to take advantage of the scheme and contribute to expanding digital infrastructure in their regions.
