
Panchkula:
Nearly 20 students had a narrow escape after a school bus of Chitkara International School rammed into six parked vehicles in Panchkula today triggering panic among students, parents and local residents.
According to police, the bus was carrying students to school when it first hit a vehicle parked along the roadside. The driver then reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which went on to collide with several other stationary vehicles before finally coming to a halt. In all, six parked vehicles sustained varying degrees of damage.
Fortunately, no student, pedestrian or occupant of the damaged vehicles was injured in the incident. The students were safely evacuated, and police along with local authorities reached the spot to assess the situation and regulate traffic.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Officials said they are examining whether the mishap was triggered by a mechanical failure in the bus or whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The driver is currently being questioned, and a detailed mechanical inspection of the bus has also been initiated. Appropriate legal action will be taken after the investigation report is received.
