Chandigarh:
Punjab Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday criticised the PM Narendra Modi-led government over reports of invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against students protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over the NEET paper leak issue.
Warring questioned whether students demanding accountability over repeated examination irregularities could be considered a threat to national security. He said the protesters were only seeking answers and justice over issues affecting the future of lakhs of students.
“Does the Centre consider students a threat to national security? They are merely seeking accountability against the recurring paper leaks, including the NEET exam,” Warring said.
The Punjab Congress chief accused the government of trying to suppress voices of dissent instead of addressing genuine concerns. He warned that any attempt to end the peaceful protest through force would have consequences for the government.
Warring said the Centre should engage with students and take corrective measures to restore confidence in the examination system rather than using strict measures against those raising their concerns.
