The Punjab Government has extended the deadline for its One-Time Settlement (OTS)-2025 Scheme for pre-GST tax dues till September 30, 2026, giving eligible taxpayers a final opportunity to settle pending tax liabilities with relief in tax, interest and penalties.
Finance, Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said taxpayers have deposited ₹167.23 crore, while the government has provided relief worth ₹534.54 crore under the scheme. So far, 9,782 applications involving tax demands of ₹437.51 crore have been received.
Cheema urged the remaining eligible taxpayers to take advantage of the extended deadline, stressing that no further extension would be granted. He also said the department has recovered over ₹12.39 crore from habitual VAT defaulters and scheduled 13 auction proceedings in August to recover nearly ₹48.48 crore in outstanding dues.
The minister warned that strict recovery action, including freezing bank accounts and auctioning properties, would begin after the September 30 deadline against those who fail to settle their dues.
