The Joint Action Committee of the Punjab Mandi Board Workers Union Punjab and the Punjab Mandi Board Pensioners Association Punjab has strongly welcomed the recent verdict of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the release of Dearness Allowance (DA) dues to employees and pensioners.
In a joint statement, senior union leaders including Engineer Sudagar Singh (Patron), Hardev Singh Sandhu (State President), Deepak Sharma (Vice President Punjab), Gurcharan Singh Butter (General Secretary Punjab), Baljit Singh Grewal, Manjit Singh Dhaliwal, Jaspal Singh Dhillon, Mohan Singh Jakhar, Sarwan Kumar, Satnam Singh Grover, Ashok Kumar Midha, Dev Raj Jindal, Davinder Singh Kussa, Gurjant Singh Dhaliwal, Jagjit Singh Takhtupura, Resham Singh Bhullar, Rajinder Kumar Bhola, and Rupinder Singh Walia (Retired Sub-Divisional Officer, Moga) hailed the judgment as a historic victory for employees and pensioners.
The leaders stated that the High Court rejected all arguments presented by the Punjab Government and directed it to release the pending Dearness Allowance within 15 days.
According to the union representatives, the court further ordered that if the government fails to make the payment within the stipulated period, it will be liable to pay 6 percent interest on the delayed amount.
The Joint Action Committee described the verdict as a significant relief for thousands of employees and pensioners who have been awaiting the release of their DA arrears. The leaders expressed hope that the Punjab Government would comply with the court’s directions within the prescribed timeframe and ensure timely payment of all pending dues.
The employee and pensioner organizations also thanked all members who supported the legal struggle and said the judgment would strengthen the confidence of workers and retirees in the judicial system.
