Mohali Police Crack Vehicle Theft Case, Recover 10 Motorcycles and 8 Bicycles

Mohali:

In a major breakthrough against vehicle thefts in the city, the Mohali Police have arrested three accused and recovered 10 stolen motorcycles and 8 bicycles during a special campaign launched to curb vehicle theft incidents.

The operation was conducted under the directions of Shri Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS, SSP, SAS Nagar, and under the guidance of Shri Dilpreet Singh, IPS, Captain of Police (City), SAS Nagar. Shri Gurcharan Singh, DSP City-1, Mohali, shared the details with the media.

According to the police, the team of Inspector Sukhbir Singh, SHO, Police Station Phase-1, Mohali, achieved a major success on August 8, 2026, when Head Constable Jaswant Singh, along with other police personnel, was present at Diplast Chowk, Mohali.

During this time, a confidential informer alerted the police that Ranjit Singh, son of Jasvir Singh, resident of village Pabala, Police Station Badali Ala Singh, Fatehgarh Sahib, was travelling towards his village on a motorcycle bearing registration number CH-03P-5119, which he had allegedly stolen from Mohali.

Acting swiftly on the information, the police set up a naka and apprehended Ranjit Singh along with the motorcycle. FIR No. 171 dated August 8, 2026, under Section 303(2) of the BNS, was registered at Police Station Phase-1, SAS Nagar. Section 317(2) BNS was subsequently added to the case.

During police remand, another stolen motorcycle was recovered from Ranjit Singh. During interrogation, he allegedly disclosed information regarding the involvement of Rohit Singh alias Aman alias Dagi, son of late Jasmer Singh, resident of village Naraina, Police Station Badali Ala Singh, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Karan Sharma, son of Raman Sharma, resident of Kumbra village, SAS Nagar.

Karan Sharma was arrested on August 10, 2026, and three motorcycles were recovered from him. During his police remand, the police also recovered eight bicycles allegedly stolen from different areas of Mohali.

Subsequently, on August 12, 2026, accused Rohit Singh alias Aman alias Dagi was arrested through a production warrant. During police remand, five motorcycles were recovered from him.
