Chandigarh:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab today attacked the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) over speculation of a possible alliance with the BJP, alleging that the debate was being used to divert public attention and provide political relief to Sukhbir Singh Badal.
AAP media in-charge Baltej Pannu said the Badal family could not escape questions related to the 2015 sacrilege incidents and police firing on protesters. He questioned whether a new alliance could help the Akali leadership avoid accountability.
AAP spokesperson Neel Garg also targeted the Akali Dal and BJP, alleging that their previous alliance had left Punjab facing issues such as drugs and alleged mafia networks. He said people now wanted politics focused on development, jobs, farmers, education and healthcare rather than political alliances.
The AAP leaders said the people of Punjab would judge political parties on their record and performance rather than alliance announcements.
