Chandigarh: With the elections of the District Bar Association Chandigarh scheduled for September 11, 2026, candidates have stepped up their outreach to members of the Bar. Advocate Prateek Garg, contesting for the post of Treasurer, has appealed to senior advocates and fellow members of the Bar for their valuable vote and support.
In an exclusive interaction with The Aman Sandesh Times, Prateek Garg spoke about his vision, priorities and commitment towards strengthening the financial and administrative systems of the Bar.
Q: What prompted you to contest for the post of Treasurer?
Prateek Garg: I believe the office of Treasurer carries a great responsibility. It is not merely about maintaining accounts; it is about ensuring that the financial affairs of the Bar are handled with transparency, accountability and efficiency. I want to contribute my time, energy and professional experience towards building greater confidence among members regarding the financial management of the Association.
Q: What will be your key priorities if elected?
Prateek Garg: My focus will be on creating a more systematic and transparent financial mechanism. One of my key commitments is to introduce a digitized record system, which can make record management more organised, accessible and efficient.
I also intend to ensure timely financial reporting, so that members remain properly informed about the financial position and activities of the Association.
Q: How important is transparency in the functioning of the Bar Association?
Prateek Garg: Transparency is the foundation of trust. Every rupee handled by the Association carries a responsibility towards its members. I firmly believe that financial records and reporting should be maintained in a manner that promotes accountability and confidence among advocates.
My message is simple—Vote for Change. Vote for Transparency.
Q: What would be your approach towards young advocates?
Prateek Garg: Young advocates are an important part of the future of our profession. Their concerns, aspirations and challenges need to be heard. I assure young advocates that I will always stand with them—with their voice and their support.
I want to encourage an environment where young members feel that their issues are being heard and their participation in the affairs of the Bar is valued.
Q: What message would you like to give to senior advocates and your colleagues?
Prateek Garg: I humbly seek the valuable vote, trust and blessings of respected seniors and my fellow colleagues. If given the opportunity to serve as Treasurer, I will discharge the responsibility with sincerity, dedication and complete commitment towards the Bar.
