Grand Shobha Yatra Marks Shri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations in Mohali

The city of Mohali resonated with devotional chants, melodious bhajans and the spirit of Sanatan tradition as the Central Sanatan Dharam Mandir Kalyan Committee, Mohali, organised a grand Shobha Yatra on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

Large number of devotees, temple committee members and residents from across the city participated enthusiastically, turning the procession into a spectacular celebration of faith, unity and devotion.

The Shobha Yatra commenced from Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Phase 11, under the supervision of Kanta Gupta, President, Central Sanatan Dharam Mandir Kalyan Committee, and Manoj Aggarwal, General Secretary. Atul Sharma, President, Shri Radha Krishan Mandir Sabha, Phase 2, actively participated in the procession and accompanied the Yatra from its starting point in Phase 11 till its culmination at Phase 6.

The procession was formally flagged off by BJP leader and Amay Foundation Chairperson Abha Bansal, while former Deputy Mayor Kuljit Bedi was also present on the occasion.

The Shobha Yatra presented a vibrant display of religious and cultural heritage. Women’s devotional groups associated with various temples performed soulful bhajans dedicated to Lord Shri Krishna, while beautifully decorated tableaux depicting different episodes from the life and divine pastimes of Lord Krishna added colour and grandeur to the procession.

Devotees of all age groups joined the Yatra with great enthusiasm. As the procession moved through different phases, the atmosphere echoed with chants of “Jai Shri Krishna”, devotional songs and religious slogans. The participation reflected the deep faith of residents and the strong spirit of community togetherness.

Residents and social organisations also made elaborate arrangements to welcome the Shobha Yatra. Langars, prasad and refreshment stalls were set up at several locations along the route. Residents of Phase 3B2, Phase 3, Phase 5, Madanpur Chowk and other areas warmly welcomed the devotees and distributed food, refreshments and prasad.

The procession passed through various parts of the city before reaching Shri Durga Mata Mandir, Phase 6, where it concluded with religious rituals and prayers.

Manoj Aggarwal Hails Collective Participation

Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Aggarwal, General Secretary, Central Sanatan Dharam Mandir Kalyan Committee, said that the overwhelming participation of temple committees, devotees and residents was a matter of great pride. He said the Shobha Yatra showcased the unity, faith and devotion of the people while also promoting the rich religious and cultural traditions of Sanatan Dharma.

Aggarwal congratulated all temple committees, volunteers, residents and devotees whose collective efforts contributed to making the event a grand success and a memorable Janmashtami celebration.

He specially appreciated the active participation of Atul Sharma, President, Shri Radha Krishan Mandir Sabha, Phase 2, describing his contribution as an example of dedication towards religious and community activities. Aggarwal particularly lauded Sharma for accompanying the Shobha Yatra throughout its entire journey from Phase 11 to Phase 6.

The grand Shobha Yatra concluded on a spiritually uplifting note, leaving devotees immersed in an atmosphere of joy, devotion and togetherness. The successful celebration once again reflected the strong community spirit of Mohali and the collective commitment of residents and temple committees towards preserving and promoting religious and cultural traditions.
