Former Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu has criticised the Punjab government over the pending demands of government employees, particularly the release of Dearness Allowance (DA) instalments and arrears. He said that once the Congress forms the government in Punjab, all legitimate dues and service-related issues of employees will be addressed on priority.
Jeeti Sidhu said government employees are an important pillar of the administration and their rights should not be delayed. He pointed out that employees have been raising demands related to pending DA and Dearness Relief (DR) arrears, the Old Pension Scheme, pay-scale issues and other service benefits.
He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government had repeatedly held meetings and given assurances but failed to provide a concrete solution, forcing employees to organise protests, collective leave and pen-down strikes.
Sidhu said that amid rising inflation, DA is a legitimate entitlement of employees and pending instalments should be released without further delay. He urged the government to engage directly with employee organisations and resolve their concerns through dialogue.
The former Mayor said the Congress stands with the employees and, after coming to power, would prepare a time-bound plan in consultation with employee organisations to clear outstanding dues and resolve pending service matters.
He added that issues concerning DA, salaries, pensions, pay scales and other employee benefits would be given priority under a Congress government.
