Mohali :
The 124th and 125th buses from the Mohali Assembly constituency were flagged off from Saidpur and Rurka for Sri Amritsar Sahib under the Punjab Government’s Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana. The buses will facilitate devotees, especially senior citizens, in visiting the holy city.
MLA Kulwant Singh said people were showing great enthusiasm for the pilgrimage scheme and appreciated the government’s efforts to provide devotees with convenient travel facilities to important religious destinations. He said buses were also being operated to places including Khatu Shyam, Haridwar, Mathura and Vrindavan.
Kulwant Singh said the government was also focusing on the overall development of the youth by promoting sports and education and encouraging young people to stay away from drugs. He said such initiatives could help channelise the energy of youth towards constructive activities.
State Awardee Phoolraj Singh, Deputy Mayor Harpal Singh Channa and other dignitaries were present during the flag-off ceremonies. The organisers said the continued operation of pilgrimage buses reflected the growing response to the government’s initiative.
