The Department of Computer Science & Applications at DAV College, Chandigarh, organised ‘Parichay 2026’, a vibrant fresher’s welcome party to warmly introduce newly admitted students to their seniors, faculty members and the college community.
Principal Prof. Mona Narang, the chief guest, welcomed the newcomers and encouraged them to believe in their abilities, maintain a positive mindset, embrace challenges and set ambitious academic goals. Dr. R.S. Salaria, Guest of Honour, also addressed the gathering. Dr. Minakshi Bhardwaj, Head of the Computer Department, motivated the students to work hard and actively participate in academic and extracurricular activities for their overall personality development.
The event began with a traditional welcome, as seniors greeted the first-year students with tilak and jaggery. The cultural programme featured folk dances, instrumental performances, Shayari recitations and a range of fun activities, including push-up, hook-step and compliment challenges, balloon games and musical chairs.
The highlight of the celebration was the ramp walk and self-introduction round, followed by a final question-and-answer session to select the Mr. and Miss Fresher. Sarthak Singh was crowned Mr. Fresher, while Jaspreet Kaur won the title of Miss Fresher.
Other title winners included Dharmpreet Singh – Mr. Charming, Harleen Kaur – Ms. Charming, Vishesh – Mr. Personality, Bhawana Choudhary – Miss Personality, Lovepreet Singh – Mr. All Rounder, and Arshiya – Ms. All Rounder.
