MLA S. Kulwant Singh distributed Chief Minister Health Scheme (MMSSY) cards to beneficiaries at the Aarogya Kendra in Sector 69 on Monday, stressing the need to ensure wider access to cashless healthcare services under the scheme.
Addressing the gathering, Kulwant Singh said the Chief Minister Health Scheme was proving to be a major support for needy families as well as the general public. He said the scheme provides cashless treatment for various ailments at government and empanelled private hospitals, helping reduce the financial burden of healthcare on families.
He said eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of quality medical treatment without worrying about immediate treatment expenses. According to the MLA, more than 54 lakh families have so far been registered under the scheme across Punjab, while around 1.80 lakh beneficiary families have been registered in SAS Nagar district.
Kulwant Singh said the scheme currently offers 2,356 treatment packages through 909 empanelled hospitals, including 684 private and 225 government hospitals. These healthcare institutions are providing a range of medical services to beneficiaries across the state.
On the occasion, students of Saraswati College of Nursing, Gharuan, presented a street play to spread awareness about the importance of health cards and the healthcare facilities available under the scheme. Students of Ambika Nursing College also created a colourful rangoli to raise awareness about the scheme.
The programme focused on spreading awareness about cashless healthcare facilities and encouraging eligible beneficiaries to make use of the services available under the Chief Minister Health Scheme.
