Sports Homeland Punjab 2026-27: District-Level Tournament Concludes with Impressive Performances

The fourth and fifth, final days of the District-Level Tournament 2026-27, organised under the Punjab Government’s Sports Department, witnessed intense competition and impressive performances by players across various sporting disciplines.

On the fourth day, athletes showcased their talent in the 400-metre event in the Under-17 category. Raunak, son of Sarwan Kumar, secured first position, followed by Kulnoor Singh, son of Harpreet Singh, from Mohali, in second place, while Deepak Kumar, son of Rajesh Vishwas from Jhanjeri, finished third. In the 41-60 years category, Manmohan Singh from Derabassi bagged first position, Surinderpal Singh from Kharar secured second, and Manjit Singh from Derabassi stood third.

The Kabaddi competitions also saw an exciting contest, with Lalru securing the gold medal, Youth Club Fatehgarh winning silver and CGC Landran taking the bronze medal. In swimming, Nadarbir Singh topped the Under-14 boys’ backstroke event, while Harlav Singh finished second and Samarpratap Singh third.

The fifth and final day featured basketball and football competitions, where players displayed determination and competitive spirit until the final moments. In the football matches, Cheeta FC defeated Semrock School by two points, while Khalsa Academy registered a four-point victory over Singhpura.

In the Under-14 girls’ category, BSH Arya defeated Prabh Asra by four points. Semrock School secured a one-point victory over Singhpura, while the Khelo India Under-14 team defeated Orkridge by three points. Khalsa Academy also registered a two-point victory over Cheeta FC.

At the conclusion of the tournament, players who delivered outstanding performances were honoured for their achievements. The competitions highlighted the importance of discipline, dedication and sportsmanship, with young athletes competing enthusiastically while maintaining the true spirit of the games.

District Sports Officer SAS Nagar, Umeshwari Sharma, said the hard work and excellent performances of the players demonstrated that Punjab’s young generation is well prepared to achieve new heights in the field of sports. She expressed confidence that such competitions would further encourage youngsters to pursue sports and contribute to the state’s sporting achievements.
