BJP Promises MSP for All Crops, Including Fruits and Vegetables, in Punjab: Kewal Singh Dhillon

Punjab BJP promises MSP for all crops on Haryana model if voted to power

Chandigarh :

Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon has said that if the party forms the government in Punjab, it will ensure minimum support price (MSP) for all crops, including fruits and vegetables, on the lines of the BJP government in Haryana.

Dhillon made the announcement during a meeting with the newly constituted state team of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Chandigarh on Saturday. The delegation, led by Kisan Morcha state president Lakhwinder Singh, met him to seek guidance and discuss the organisation’s activities among farmers.

Criticising the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Dhillon alleged that its policies had pushed Punjab towards financial distress and that the concerns of farmers were being neglected. He said the prosperity of Punjab depended on the well-being of its farming community.

Dhillon claimed that before the 2022 Assembly elections, the AAP had promised to ensure MSP for all crops within five minutes of forming the government but had failed to fulfil the commitment over the past four-and-a-half years.

He said the BJP government in Haryana was providing MSP for all crops and asserted that a BJP government in Punjab would extend similar benefits, including coverage for fruits and vegetables. According to Dhillon, the proposed policy would provide greater financial security to farmers and strengthen the agricultural sector.

Highlighting the Centre’s initiatives for farmers, Dhillon said the Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi was providing MSP for wheat and paddy in Punjab, along with financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

He also referred to fertiliser subsidies, claiming that a urea bag costing around ₹2,800 was being made available to farmers for ₹266.

Urging the newly appointed Kisan Morcha office-bearers to strengthen their outreach, Dhillon asked them to take the Centre’s farmer-related schemes and initiatives to villages and households across Punjab.

During the meeting, the state team felicitated Dhillon. Lakhwinder Singh and other office-bearers assured him that the Kisan Morcha would work to strengthen the BJP’s organisational presence at every level across the state.
