Mohali Road Divider Work Raises Safety Concerns, Atul Sharma Seeks Municipal Commissioner’s Intervention

Mohali:

Concerns have been raised over the alleged lack of safety measures at road divider construction and repair sites in Mohali, where work is reportedly being carried out without proper warning signs, adequate lighting and sufficient barricading.

BJP leader Atul Sharma expressed concern that the absence of essential safety arrangements could put motorists, two-wheeler riders and pedestrians at risk, particularly during night hours and in low-visibility conditions.

Sharma questioned the safety arrangements made by the contractor and the concerned Municipal Corporation staff. He stressed that construction and repair work must be carried out with proper barricades, reflective warning signs, adequate lighting and advance alerts for approaching traffic.

Atul Sharma has written a letter to the Municipal Commissioner, Mohali, seeking urgent intervention. He has called for immediate inspections of the affected sites and appropriate action to ensure compliance with road safety requirements.

Sharma urged the Municipal Corporation to ensure accountability and take corrective measures to prevent accidents. He emphasised that public safety must remain the priority in all civic development projects.

“Public safety must be the first priority in every civic development project. No construction or repair work should proceed without adequate warning signs, lighting and proper safety arrangements. Preventive action today can save lives tomorrow,” he said.

He called upon the authorities to address the issue promptly and ensure that road improvement works are carried out with proper safety measures to protect all road users.
