Mohali : Non completion of round about is resulting in accident and may cause loss of life and property stated Kuljit Singh Bedi, Dy Mayor Mohali.
Mohali Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has written to the Chief Administrator of GMADA and demanded the immediate construction/ completion of the round about in Sector 78-79, 86-87 of Mohali, and said that the condition of the said under construction round about is very bad and although six months ago the inauguration of the work was started by the Chief Minister Punjab and Chairman of GMADA Bhagwant Singh Mann, but due to the poor performance of the contractor, this round about, dug up since then has been left vacant which is now causing accidents.
Deputy Mayor Kuljeet Singh Bedi said that a couple of days back, three cars entered the excavated area of the rotary because nothing was visible at night and no lights were on, and they also suffered a lot of damage. He said that such accidents happen here every day because people do not see this dug-out place while passing through this road at night. He said that the traffic on this road is very high because many new sectors have been settled here in which a large number of people live. He said that the road to the next villages also connects to Mohali from this road, so there is more traffic here and this road also connects to the airport road.
Deputy Mayor Kuljeet Singh Bedi said that in the coming days, with the increase of winter, there will be fog and there is also a season of weddings and festivals ahead, due to which the traffic of vehicles on the road will increase, due to which the number of accidents may increase and the number of people will suffer. There may be loss of life and property.
Bedi, in his letter has requested the CA to immediately start the work here by giving strict instructions to the contractor and arrange lights here at night and install neon signs that shine at night so that people know about this round about in advance and they do not become victims of accidents. He said that the time limit for completing this round about should also be fixed and the contractor should be fined due to lax action and blacklisted in case of non-performance.
