SEC Transfers Nabha BDPO Over Alleged Favouritism in Local Elections

Chandigarh :

The State Election Commission (SEC) has ordered the transfer of Nabha’s Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) Baljit Kaur following complaints of alleged bias in favour of ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates during the ongoing Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
Baljit Kaur is the third government official to face SEC action over reported support to AAP candidates. On Monday, Amloh’s BDO Balpinder Singh was also transferred, and an inquiry was initiated into a viral audio of Patiala police officers allegedly discussing assistance to the ruling party.
Officials said the transfers aim to ensure fair and transparent elections, preventing administrative influence. The SEC has stepped up vigilance, issuing strict instructions to all administrative and field officers to maintain neutrality. Details on Kaur’s replacement and the inquiry are awaited.
