Mohali :
Special health check-up camps were organised across government health institutions in the district as part of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA). Expert doctors examined pregnant women free of cost and provided guidance on safe motherhood and delivery care.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain and District Family Welfare Officer Dr Tamanna Singhal said the PMSMA camps are held on the 9th and 23rd of every month, with a special focus on high-risk pregnancies. The initiative aims to ensure timely medical examination of women in their second and third trimesters and early identification and treatment of high-risk cases.
Health officials encouraged pregnant women to avail themselves of the free services at government health facilities and warned against opting for deliveries conducted by untrained individuals, which can pose life-threatening risks to both mother and child.
They also reiterated the importance of four mandatory antenatal check-ups (ANC), all of which are provided free at government centres.
Officials added that state and central health schemes are being implemented effectively to strengthen maternal and child healthcare across th
district.
