The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on January 2, 2026, honoured its Women Band for winning top honours at the 26th All India Police Band Competition held in Secunderabad in December 2025.
The CISF Women Band clinched the Gold Medal in the Women Brass Band category, along with the Overall Best Women Contingent Award and the Best Conductor Award, won by L/CT Lydia Chingbiaksiam. The team was led by Assistant Commandant Bhawna Yadav and trained under ASI/Exe Arun Chettri.
Conceptualised in September 2023, the band comprises women constables, many without prior musical training, who underwent rigorous preparation under expert mentorship. Since its formation, the band has performed at major national events, including the Republic Day Parade 2024 and the Beating Retreat Ceremony 2025.
Director General CISF Praveer Ranjan said the achievement reflects women’s empowerment and the Force’s commitment to gender neutrality, adding that the CISF takes pride in the band’s exceptional success.
