The pipping ceremony of noted anti-gangster operations expert Bikramjit Singh Brar as Superintendent of Police (SP) was held at the Punjab Police Headquarters in Sector 9 on Wednesday.

The new rank was formally adorned by Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police, Punjab, in the presence of Parmod Bhan, ADGP, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), and Gurmeet Chauhan, DIG, AGTF.

Brar, widely recognised for his role in major anti-gangster operations, had earlier led the operation that resulted in the neutralisation of shooters Jagroop Singh alias Roopa and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa, accused in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

A five-time recipient of the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, Brar has been instrumental in several high-profile encounters and crackdowns against organised crime in Punjab.

The ceremony was attended by senior police officials and marked recognition of his exemplary service in combating gangsterism and maintaining law and order in the state.
