Mohali :
The fifth bus under the Chief Minister’s Teerth Yatra Scheme was flagged off from the Mohali Assembly constituency on Thursday by MLA Kulwant Singh at Matour.
Speaking to mediapersons, Kulwant Singh said that the fifth batch of devotees from Mohali has been sent under the pilgrimage scheme. He noted that there was great enthusiasm and devotion among the pilgrims, and expressed satisfaction over the positive response to the initiative.
He informed that the group will visit Amritsar, considered a central place of religious importance for multiple faiths. The pilgrims will pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Ram Tirath Temple, Valmiki Temple Amritsar, and visit Jallianwala Bagh before proceeding to the Attari-Wagah border.
The MLA stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the state government has made necessary arrangements for the travel, stay and other facilities of the pilgrims to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey.
He added that while Sri Harmandir Sahib and Durgiana Temple are major centres of religious faith, visiting Jallianwala Bagh reminds people of the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle.
Kulwant Singh further said that devotees have expressed a desire for a similar pilgrimage scheme to Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib. He stated that the matter has been discussed with the Chief Minister and expressed hope that such a scheme could be introduced in the future.
Responding to questions regarding the Mohali Municipal Corporation elections, the MLA clarified that the polls will be conducted within the stipulated timeframe. He said the concerned department has already presented its position before the court and emphasized that elections, being a democratic process, will be held as scheduled.
