New Delhi : Arvind Kejriwal on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on whether Iran has assured that Indian ships will be allowed to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in West Asia.
The query followed a phone conversation between PM Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the leaders discussed the “serious situation” in the region. PM Modi emphasized that the safety of Indian nationals and the unhindered transit of goods and energy are top priorities for India.
In a post on X, Kejriwal asked whether India can expect relief from the crisis and whether Iran has provided assurances for safe passage of Indian vessels.
His remarks come at a time when global markets and trade routes are under close scrutiny due to the escalating West Asia conflict.
Analysts warn that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical channel for oil transport, could impact international energy supplies and trade flows.
The focus now remains on diplomatic assurances and measures to ensure uninterrupted passage of Indian ships through the strategic waterway.
