Mayor Blames MLA Kulwant Singh for Stalled Development Works

Mohali : Mohali Mayor Amritjeet Singh Jeeti Sidhu on today conducted an inspection of various sectors and phases of the city to review stalled development works, raising serious concerns over administrative delays and political interference.
During his visit, the Mayor highlighted that although work orders have been issued and approximately ₹13 crore is available in the municipal corporation’s accounts, multiple important projects have remained incomplete for the past one-and-a-half to two years. The stalled works include boundary walls, badminton courts, the village dharamshala, park development, stormwater channels, and road construction in Phase 6, Phase 3B1, Village Mohali, Sector 78, and Sector 79.
Mayor Jeeti Sidhu directly accused MLA Kulwant Singh of obstructing development works by putting pressure on municipal officials. He warned that if the Congress government comes to power, officials failing in their duties could face transfers to distant areas such as Pathankot. He emphasized that political conflicts and lack of coordination within the municipal corporation have left many files pending, adversely affecting city development and public satisfaction.
Several councillors, including Harjeet Bhola, Ravinder Singh, Nachhattar Singh, and Lakhbir Singh, voiced their concerns about the incomplete projects. They stated that all issues will be raised during the municipal corporation’s budget and final house meeting on March 24, signaling a potentially heated debate over administrative negligence and stalled development.
The Mayor’s inspection and statements have intensified the political discourse in Mohali, highlighting long-standing issues of stalled civic works and accountability. Officials were urged to expedite pending projects to ensure basic facilities for residents and restore public confidence in municipal governance.
This move by Mayor Jeeti Sidhu signals a firm stance on administrative efficiency and accountability.
