
Mohali : The skies over Chandigarh came alive with colour and precision as the Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) delivered a spectacular air show at Sukhna Lake, drawing thousands of spectators. The event showcased breathtaking aerial formations, synchronised manoeuvres, and vibrant tricolour smoke trails that left the audience spellbound and filled with patriotic fervour.
The event was attended by Chief Guest H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary of the Union Territory, who praised the IAF for its exceptional skill, discipline, and dedication. He also commended the coordinated efforts of various departments in successfully organising the large-scale event and highlighted its role in inspiring youth and promoting national pride. The Suryakiran team performed a range of intricate aerial displays, including formations such as Tejas and Yuva, along with barrel rolls, high-speed crossings, loops, and signature patterns like the DNA and heart formations. The precision and coordination displayed by the pilots demonstrated the high level of training and expertise within the Indian Air Force. The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with residents, tourists, and aviation enthusiasts gathering along the lakefront to witness the show.
The venue turned into a vibrant hub of excitement as spectators applauded the daring stunts and colourful displays.Authorities ensured tight security and smooth crowd management, with seamless coordination between the Chandigarh Administration, IAF, and security agencies. The successful reflected careful planning and execution.
The celebrations are set to continue on March 28, with Gulab Chand Kataria expected to attend as the chief guest.
Officials have invited citizens to witness another day of aerial brilliance as part of the Chandigarh Air Show 2026, which stands as a tribute to the nation’s armed forces and a celebration of aviation excellence.
