Komal Mittal Reviews Development Works, Stresses Timely Completion

Mohali : Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal conducted a comprehensive review of rural development works in the district, directing officials to ensure timely and quality completion of all ongoing projects. The review meeting was held at the District Administrative Complex and attended by senior officers from multiple departments.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that a grant of Rs 320 lakh has been received under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan for civil works in the 2025–26 financial year. She instructed officials to complete all sanctioned projects within stipulated timelines while maintaining high standards of quality. Emphasizing the importance of infrastructure in education, Mittal stressed that improved school facilities are essential for creating a better learning environment for students.
She also directed officials to ensure strict monitoring of mid-day meal schemes in schools, including regular quality checks and proper record maintenance. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed progress on various development works, including construction of playgrounds, libraries, anganwadi centres, and other village-level infrastructure projects.
Mittal urged Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs) to accelerate work in their respective areas and resolve public grievances promptly. She emphasized that there should be no compromise on the quality of development works and called for enhanced ground-level monitoring. Officials were also instructed to regularly inspect village cleanliness and submit periodic progress reports. In addition, directions were issued to the Public Works Department (PWD) and Mandi Board to expedite ongoing road construction projects.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need to complete solid and liquid waste management works in villages within the given timeframe. Reviewing government schemes, she asked departments to submit utilization certificates without delay. She also highlighted the ongoing Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign aimed at protecting 14-year-old girls from cervical cancer and appealed to parents and educational institutions to support the initiative.
