Temple Committee Flags Security Concerns Ahead of Bhajan Sandhya

Mohali :

The Shree Shiv Mandir and Dharamshala Phase-9 committee has expressed concern over the alleged absence of police security arrangements for a scheduled Bhajan Sandhya being held on April 28.
Committee chairman Ramesh Kumar Verma said the religious event, featuring bhajan singer Kanhiya Mittal, is expected to attract around 1,000 to 1,500 devotees between 8 pm and 11 pm.
He stated that the committee had repeatedly approached the Phase-8 police station on April 27 and again on the day of the event, requesting security and traffic management support due to the expected crowd.
However, according to the committee, the requests were declined citing shortage of police personnel due to other deployments, including farmer protests and other duties.
The committee also claimed that even a request for limited police presence was not approved, raising concerns over crowd management and safety during the event.
Officials from the police have not issued a detailed response on the matter so far.
