Kataria Assesses Healthcare, Education and Green Development Works

Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria today conducted an extensive review of healthcare facilities, educational infrastructure, and environmental initiatives across the city, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to improving public services.
During his visit to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), South Campus, Sector 48, Kataria reviewed various healthcare services, including Ayush OPD, Homeopathy services, Physiotherapy, Immunisation, Oncology, Yoga, Dental and Paediatric OPDs, as well as Radiation Oncology facilities. He was also briefed about the upcoming Panchkarma facility by Health Secretary Mandip Singh Brar.
Emphasising the need for accessible and quality healthcare, the Administrator said continuous efforts are being made to strengthen medical infrastructure and improve patient care in government hospitals across Chandigarh. Officials informed him that several new OPDs have recently been launched and awareness campaigns are being conducted to encourage greater public utilization of healthcare services
At Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Sector 47 and Civil Hospital, Sector 45, Kataria reviewed pharmacy services, emergency facilities, ECG services, maternal healthcare units, and laboratory facilities. He also interacted with patients and attendants to gather feedback, receiving positive responses regarding the quality of healthcare services.
The Administrator later visited Government Model Senior Secondary School, Maloya, where he reviewed education-related issues raised during the Maloya Samadhan Shivir. Officials informed him that a tender for the construction of 25 additional rooms at Government High School, Maloya, has been approved to strengthen educational infrastructure.
Earlier, Kataria inspected the Daddu Majra Dumping Ground site and reviewed preparations for a large-scale tree plantation drive planned for July. He directed Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar to expedite levelling work at the site to ensure smooth plantation activities during the monsoon season.
