Several injured in road accident on Chandigarh–Ambala highway

Derabassi :

A major road accident occurred near Bhushan Factory cut on the Derabassi–Ambala–Chandigarh National Highway on Friday morning, leaving several pilgrims injured.
According to reports, a tempo traveller carrying devotees on a religious trip was hit by a high-speed Haryana Roadways bus around 8:30 am. The vehicle was reportedly making a U-turn when two buses coming from Ambala were overtaking each other, causing one of them to lose control and collide with the tempo traveller.
The impact was severe, causing the tempo traveller to overturn in the middle of the road and suffer extensive damage. Several passengers were injured, including three women who are said to be in critical condition.
Panic spread at the spot following the collision, with passersby and Derabassi traffic police rushing to rescue the injured and shift them to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police have seized both vehicles and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Local residents claimed that the Bhushan Factory cut has become a “black spot” due to poor lighting and inadequate traffic management, adding that this is the second major accident at the location in the past five days. They have urged authorities and the National Highways Authority to take immediate safety measures.
