Hospital Celebrates National Cancer Survivors Day Honours Patients

The Sohana Hospital celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day with a special event held at Radisson Red Hotel in Mohali, bringing together cancer survivors, their families, doctors, and hospital staff to honour resilience and recovery.

The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by cultural performances, music, dance, games, and emotional sharing of survivor journeys, creating a celebratory and inspiring atmosphere.
Medical experts from the hospital highlighted both medical progress and the importance of trust and awareness in cancer care. Dr. Gautam Goel, Director of Medical Oncology, said that effective cancer treatment goes beyond medicines and depends on transparency in costs and building patient confidence. He noted that the journey of survival begins the moment a patient chooses hope over fear.
Trust Secretary Gurmeet Singh stressed that advancements in modern therapies are improving outcomes, but said awareness and timely screening remain crucial, especially given rising cancer cases in Punjab.
Robotic cancer surgeon Dr. Shyam Sunder Trehan explained that robotic-assisted procedures allow greater precision and faster recovery, while medical oncologist Dr. Nitish Garg emphasized the growing importance of personalized treatment approaches in improving patient outcomes
Hospital CEO Dr. Gagandeep Singh Sachdeva said the institution is committed not only to treatment but also to ensuring dignity, emotional support, and encouragement for every patient. Trustee Sukhdeep Singh highlighted that National Cancer Survivors Day reflects the strength of human determination in overcoming life-threatening illness.
The hospital also reiterated its long-standing healthcare mission, noting that for over three decades it has continued the vision of its founder chairman Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji Khalsa Khannewale by providing quality and affordable care.
