Chandigarh University Awards Degrees to 363 Students, Signs MoU with PwC

Mohali :

Chandigarh University held its 8th Annual Convocation for CU Online and the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) in Mohali, awarding degrees to 363 students from 19 states and Union Territories across India.
The graduating batch included 214 male and 149 female students, with 330 postgraduate and 33 undergraduate degrees conferred across disciplines including MBA, MCA, Data Science, Mathematics, English, Economics, and Journalism and Mass Communication.
The ceremony was attended by students, faculty members, and university officials. Sanjeev Parkar, Senior Director at PwC India, attended as the chief guest and addressed the students, highlighting the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in creating new opportunities rather than reducing employment. He emphasised the need for upskilling and industry-academia collaboration to prepare students for future job markets.
During the event, Chandigarh University also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PwC India to launch an online MBA programme, marking a significant step in integrating industry expertise with academic learning. The initiative aims to make students more industry-ready through practical exposure and professional training.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raviraja N. Seetharam said the university is working to bridge the gap between online and offline education and ensure accessible, flexible learning for students balancing work, family, and studies. He added that CU Online is designed to provide quality higher education to learners unable to pursue traditional classroom programmes due to various constraints.
The convocation highlighted the inclusive nature of online education, with graduates ranging from young professionals and entrepreneurs to educators, homemakers, and even a 63-year-old retired professional who earned a Master’s degree in Data Science.
