Chandigarh :
Two employees of a medical store were killed after unidentified assailants opened fire at Kumar Medical Store in Sector 11 near PGI Chandigarh today afternoon.
Police said three armed men arrived on a scooter around 2:30 pm and fired multiple rounds at the shop before fleeing the scene. The store manager and cashier suffered critical gunshot injuries and were later declared dead at a hospital. Around seven rounds were reportedly fired during the attack.
The incident caused panic in the area, following which Chandigarh Police sealed the crime scene and launched an investigation. CCTV footage is being examined and eyewitnesses are being questioned to identify the attackers.
According to police sources, the medical store owner had allegedly received extortion threats in the past from gangster groups, including those linked to Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. However, police have not officially confirmed any gang’s involvement in the shooting
Senior police officers and crime investigation teams reached the spot soon after the incident. A city-wide alert has been issued and multiple teams have been deployed to trace the accused. Police are also investigating the possibility of an extortion-related motive behind the attack.
