Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation a Victory for Students: Congress Leaders

Mohali :

Congress Party District Mohali Mahila Wing Secretary Ms. Rajni Dixit and senior social worker and Congress leader Vishal Sharma issued a joint statement, saying that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, following the prolonged peaceful protest by students at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, marks a victory for the students’ struggle. They stated that this decision should have been taken much earlier and that the Central Government delayed the matter unnecessarily.
They said that merely accepting the Minister’s resignation is not enough. The Central Government must now address the remaining demands raised by the protesting students with seriousness and sensitivity.
They demanded ₹1 crore compensation for the families of students who lost their lives in connection with the NEET examination-related incidents, stating that such a step would reflect the government’s commitment to supporting the affected families.
While interacting with the media, Ms. Rajni Dixit and Congress leader Vishal Sharma claimed that the public has become increasingly disappointed with the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Making a political remark, they said that “people now jokingly call BJP ‘Bhag Ja’ (Run Away).” They further claimed that even some people who had earlier voted for the BJP now say, “The lotus symbol was our biggest mistake.” They added that the country wants change and urged the government to respond sincerely to the concerns of students and young people.
They further demanded an independent and time-bound inquiry into the police action against students protesting peacefully at Jantar Mantar. If any officials or police personnel are found responsible, strict legal action should be taken against them.
They also demanded that all FIRs registered against the protesting students be withdrawn so that the future of innocent students is not adversely affected.
In conclusion, Rajni Dixit and Vishal Sharma said that peaceful protest is a constitutional right in a democracy and that the Congress Party will continue to stand firmly with students, youth, and the common people in their fight for justice and democratic rights.
