Broken Manhole Covers and Choked Sewer Lines Plague Industrial Area Phase 7 Mohali

Mohali:

The Industrial Area Phase 7, Mohalj continues to face serious civic infrastructure problems, with a large number of manholes reportedly having broken or damaged covers, posing a constant danger to industrial workers, visitors and motorists.

The situation becomes particularly hazardous during the evening hours or in poor visibility, when open or partially covered manholes can easily lead to accidents. Residents and industrial workers say the damaged covers have remained a persistent concern and require urgent attention from the civic authorities.

Adding to the problem, blocked sewer lines have become a permanent issue in Industrial Area Phase 7, causing sewage-related inconvenience and raising concerns over sanitation and public health. Repeated choking of sewer lines can also lead to waterlogging and foul odour, particularly during periods of heavy rain.

Industrialists and workers have urged the Municipal Corporation to conduct a comprehensive inspection of all manholes and sewer lines in Phase 7, replace broken covers immediately and undertake regular cleaning and maintenance of the sewer network.

They said that Industrial Area is an important economic hub of Mohali and deserves properly maintained basic civic infrastructure. The authorities must act proactively rather than waiting for a serious accident or sanitation crisis to occur.

Immediate replacement of damaged manhole covers and a permanent solution to the recurring sewer blockage problem are urgently needed to ensure safety, cleanliness and smooth functioning of the industrial area. But Who Cares???
