Water Enters Houses in Phase 2 Mohali as Roads, Parks Turn Into Lakes

Mohali:

Heavy waterlogging in Phase 2 has once again exposed the poor drainage situation in the area, leaving residents facing serious inconvenience. Following rainfall, several roads and park areas have turned into virtual lakes, while rainwater has reportedly entered houses in parts of the locality.

Atul Sharma resident phase 2nd Mohali said the situation becomes particularly difficult for pedestrians, motorists and elderly people as large stretches remain submerged under rainwater. Water accumulated on roads has also made it difficult for residents to access their homes and has raised concerns about the possibility of contaminated water entering residential premises.

The transformation of public parks and roads into waterlogged stretches has triggered anger among residents, who questioned the preparedness of the civic authorities to deal with monsoon rainfall.

Atul Sharma have urged the Municipal Corporation to take immediate steps to clear blocked drainage points, improve the storm-water drainage system and ensure proper disposal of accumulated water.

“Every spell of rain brings the same problem. Roads and parks become lakes and residents are left to deal with the consequences,” Atul Sharma said, demanding a permanent solution instead of temporary pumping or water-clearing measures.

The recurring waterlogging has once again highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive drainage audit of Phase 2 before the situation worsens during further rainfall.
