Mohali :
Banking services at several public sector bank branches in Mohali were affected on Friday as employees and officers joined the nationwide bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
Customers visiting bank branches for cash transactions, cheque-related work, KYC updates, loan processing and other counter services faced inconvenience as normal branch operations were disrupted. The strike is part of the unions’ campaign seeking implementation of a five-day banking week, changes to the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and resolution of other pending service-related issues.
The strike was observed across the country, with public sector banks expected to experience the most significant impact. In the Chandigarh region, bank employees were also scheduled to hold a demonstration at Bank Square, Sector 17, reflecting the regional participation in the nationwide action.
For customers in Mohali, UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and ATM services are generally available, although branch-based transactions may remain affected.
Bank unions have also announced further industrial action, including a proposed three-day strike from September 28 to 30, while warning of an indefinite strike from October 26 if their demands remain unresolved.
