SAS Nagar (Mohali) MLA Kulwant Singh said the Punjab Government’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign can succeed only with active participation from all sections of society.
Speaking to reporters, Singh said the campaign has been presented as a mass movement against drug abuse and that government agencies, police, local representatives and social organisations must work together. He said that according to Punjab Police figures reported earlier this month, 76,751 alleged drug traffickers had been arrested during the campaign since March 1, 2025.
The MLA stressed that tackling drugs is not solely the responsibility of the government and police. He said families and communities also have an important role in preventing young people from falling into addiction and encouraging them towards education, sports and other healthy activities.
Singh said several works have been undertaken in the Mohali constituency under the campaign and assured that the remaining initiatives would also be completed soon. He highlighted the involvement of Panches, Sarpanches, councillors, police and administrative officials and representatives of social organisations.
He appealed to residents to continue supporting awareness efforts and work collectively to protect the younger generation from drug abuse.
Zone Incharge Anu Babbar, District Incharge Jagjit Singh, District Vice Coordinator Gurjit Singh, Halka Coordinator Kamaljit Singh, DSP Harsimrat Singh Bal and other officials and social representatives were also present.
