Chandigarh :
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a boost in the Baba Bakala Assembly constituency with former Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Ranjit Singh Chhajjalwadi joining the party along with his son Satinderjit Singh Chhajjalwadi.
The induction was facilitated by Rajbir Singh Ghuman, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who formally welcomed them into the AAP fold.
Ghuman said the joining of the Chhajjalwadi family would strengthen the party’s organisation in Baba Bakala and surrounding areas. He said leaders and people were joining AAP citing the Punjab government’s policies and development initiatives.
Satinderjit Singh Chhajjalwadi had been associated with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punr Surjit) and served as its constituency in-charge. He also contested the 2022 Assembly election from Jandiala Guru.
Ranjit Singh Chhajjalwadi has previously represented Baba Bakala in the Punjab Assembly. Election records show he contested the 2012 Assembly election from the constituency as a Congress candidate.
The Chhajjalwadi family said they would work to strengthen the AAP organisation and contribute to the development of the constituency.
