The Punjab Government has committed to procuring every grain of paddy arriving in the state’s mandis during the Kharif procurement season 2026-27, Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Burst said today.
Burst chaired a meeting with district mandi officers at the board’s head office to review preparations for the procurement season, which will begin on October 1.
He directed officials to ensure proper arrangements at all 1,886 mandis and procurement centres, including cleanliness, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, toilets and seating facilities. Adequate shaded areas and seating for labourers were also emphasised.A control room will be set up at the Mandi Board headquarters from October 1 to address farmers’ concerns during the procurement season. Burst also directed district officers to regularly visit mandis and monitor arrangements on the ground to ensure prompt resolution of any issues.
Senior officials, including Punjab Mandi Board Secretary Kumar Amit, Joint Secretary Harjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Engineers Gurinder Singh Cheema and Amandeep Singh, along with Deputy General Managers and District Mandi Officers, attended the meeting.
