Shrimad Bhagwat Katha commenced at Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir, Phase-4, Mohali, on Sunday with a grand Kalash Yatra and devotional fervour on the auspicious occasion of Shradh Paksha. The seven-day religious programme is being organised from September 27 to October 3, 2026.
The Kalash Yatra began from the temple premises after prayers and religious rituals, with a large number of women and devotees participating enthusiastically. Carrying sacred kalash on their heads, devotees moved through the surrounding areas while singing bhajans and chanting devotional slogans. Residents welcomed the procession at several places and arranged Prasad distribution, community langars and food services. Fireworks were also organised ahead of the procession, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Women’s Wing of Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir, led by its President Mrs. Dinesh Chandan, actively participated in the yatra. Mrs. Indra Rani, Pushpa Sharma, Rajkumari, Shashi, Neelam and Archana, along with other members, joined the procession and sang devotional bhajans.
In the evening, renowned storyteller from Vrindavan, Swami Dhanvantri Das Ji, delivered the first-day Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. He narrated the divine leelas of Lord Shri Krishna and highlighted the importance of devotion, dharma, संस्कार and righteous living. A large number of devotees attended the discourse.
Those associated with organising the programme include Temple Committee President Shri Desh Raj Gupta, Vice-President Raj Kumar Kalia, Satish Kumar, General Secretary Raj Kumar Sharma and Cashier Rakesh Kumar Gupta, along with other members of the management committee.
The temple committee said the Katha will be held daily from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM till October 3, while daily worship and prayers will be conducted from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. An uninterrupted community Bhandara will also be organised for devotees after the Katha.
The committee appealed to residents and devotees to participate in the religious programme in large numbers and seek the blessings of Lord Shri Krishna. The grand Kalash Yatra and first-day Katha turned Phase-4 into a vibrant centre of devotion, faith and spiritual celebration.
