District Secures State-Level Award for HIV Prevention and Treatment

Mohali :

Mohali district has secured a place among the top three districts in Punjab for its outstanding performance in HIV prevention, identification of HIV-positive patients and timely initiation of treatment.

Under the HIV Prevention and Control Programme, the Punjab State AIDS Control Society (PSACS) had set three specific targets for the district. The District Health Team, under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain, successfully achieved all three targets through systematic screening, early identification of cases, effective counselling and timely linkage of patients with treatment and follow-up services.

In recognition of the district’s performance, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh recently honoured the Mohali District Health Team at a state-level function. The award trophy was presented to the team, which included Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Programme Officer Dr. Navdeep Singh.

Dr. Sangeeta Jain said the achievement was the result of the collective efforts, dedication and continuous monitoring by the entire district health team. She appreciated the contribution of all officials and healthcare workers involved in HIV testing, counselling, treatment and follow-up services.

She further said that the state-level recognition would encourage the health team to work with greater commitment towards strengthening HIV prevention, testing, treatment and counselling services in the district.
