Mohali :
Senior BJP leader and Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha Vice President Milli Garg has strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over its claims of an “education revolution” in Punjab, alleging that the situation in government schools presents a different picture on the ground.
Garg’s remarks came in the wake of the expulsion of Maur MLA Sukhbir Singh Maiserkhana, who had publicly raised concerns regarding the shortage of teachers in government schools. She questioned the action against the elected representative, arguing that the government should address the issues highlighted by public representatives rather than take disciplinary action against those raising concerns.
“Instead of addressing the shortage of teachers, the AAP government has acted against an elected representative who dared to highlight the issue. This raises serious questions about the government’s priorities and its attitude towards genuine criticism,” Garg said.
The BJP leader alleged that the state government was spending heavily on publicity and advertisements to project its achievements, while basic concerns related to teacher availability, school infrastructure and the quality of education continued to require attention.
Garg said an effective education system could not be built through publicity campaigns alone. According to her, government schools need adequate teaching staff, improved infrastructure and quality education facilities to ensure that students receive proper learning opportunities.
She also maintained that elected representatives should be given the opportunity to bring public grievances before the government. “An education revolution cannot be achieved through advertisements alone; it requires teachers in classrooms, proper infrastructure and quality education for every child,” she asserted.
Taking aim at the AAP government ahead of the next Assembly elections, Garg said people in Punjab were increasingly able to distinguish between publicity and actual performance. She expressed confidence that voters would respond to the government’s record through the electoral process.
Garg further said the BJP was emerging as a strong and credible political alternative in Punjab and claimed that the party was committed to development, accountability and effective governance.
