Health Teams Inspect Government and Private Schools to Check Dengue Breeding

Mohali :

Under the campaign ‘Every Friday, Fight Against Dengue’, teams of the District Health Department inspected various government and private schools in Nela on Thursday to identify potential mosquito-breeding sites and spread awareness about dengue prevention.
The campaign, being conducted under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain, focused on educating teachers and students about the symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment of dengue fever. Health teams also sprayed mosquito repellent at identified locations.
The teams explained that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean, stagnant water and urged people to prevent water from accumulating in and around their homes, schools and other premises. They appealed to residents to observe every Friday as a dry day and ensure that places vulnerable to mosquito breeding remain clean and dry.
Health officials cautioned that despite the drop in temperature, dengue mosquitoes may continue to breed until the end of November. They stressed the importance of maintaining preventive measures and remaining vigilant during this period.
The department also informed the public that dengue testing and treatment are available free of cost at government hospitals. People seeking further information can contact the medical helpline at 104.
ASHA workers, health workers and students from nursing colleges also participated in the awareness drive.
