Manesar has officially elected its first-ever Mayor, with Independent candidate Dr Inderjit Yadav securing victory by 2,293 votes. Dr Yadav clinched 26,393 votes, defeating BJP’s mayoral candidate Sunder Lal, who secured 24,100 votes.
The counting of votes for the various municipal elections in Haryana to elect the mayors and ward members across the state is underway. The elections for 7 Municipal Corporations- Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, and Yamunanagar- were held this year on March 2. Bypolls for the mayors’ posts in Ambala and Sonipat and the election of the presidents and ward members in 21 municipal committees were also held on March 2. The voting for the Panipat MC was held separately on March 9.
