Mohali :
After a long wait of nearly five years, grill installation work worth approximately ₹25 lakh has finally commenced in the Phase 2 markets, marking a significant relief for shopkeepers and local traders who had been demanding the project for a long time.
The long-pending work, aimed at improving safety and infrastructure in the busy market area, has been welcomed by the trading community, which had repeatedly raised concerns over security and maintenance issues in the absence of proper fencing and protective grills.
Social worker and active market representative Arvinder Kaur acknowledged the efforts of the Market Association and expressed gratitude to all members for their consistent support, cooperation, and unity in pushing the project forward. She said the initiation of the work reflects the collective resolve of traders to improve market conditions.
According to her, the grill installation will not only enhance security in the market but also help in better crowd management and create a more organized and safer environment for both shopkeepers and visitors. She added that such infrastructure improvements are essential for the long-term development of commercial spaces in the area.
Shopkeepers in Phase 2 markets have welcomed the start of the project, calling it a long-overdue development step. Many traders expressed hope that other pending civic and infrastructural issues in the market area would also be addressed soon by the authorities, further improving business conditions and public convenience.
The beginning of the grill work is being seen as a positive step towards strengthening basic facilities in the market and restoring confidence among local traders who had been waiting for its execution for years
