Akali Dal Faces Setback as Rajmahinder Singh Majitha Joins AAP

Chandigarh :

In a significant political development in Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) suffered a major setback today as veteran leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Rajmahinder Singh Majitha joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with several supporters.
The joining ceremony took place in Chandigarh, where Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally welcomed the new entrants into the party. He was accompanied by Majitha constituency in-charge Talbir Singh Gill and other senior party leaders.
Along with Rajmahinder Singh Majitha, several prominent figures from the region also switched allegiance to AAP, including former RTI Commissioner Heminder Singh Majitha and Chief Khalsa Diwan member Sukhdeep Singh Majitha.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwant Mann said that people from religious, social, and political backgrounds are increasingly joining AAP due to the government’s development-oriented policies. He added that such inclusions would strengthen the vision of building a “Rangla Punjab.”
The leaders who joined AAP expressed confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister and the state government, stating that they were impressed by its governance and public welfare initiatives.
The development is being seen as a notable political shift in Punjab’s landscape, potentially impacting the Shiromani Akali Dal’s organizational strength in key regions.
