Mohali : District Magistrate Ms. Ashika Jain issued the order using the powers under Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Protection Act-2023 That any person living under the jurisdiction of Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Village Panchayats located within the limits of Zilla Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, when he keeps a tenant/servant/paying guest in his house, he shall give full details of the same within one week- will ensure to give to the nearest police station. This order will also apply to those who have not given the details of their already hired tenants, servants and paying guests to the police.
These prohibitory orders state that many people from other states and outside districts come to the district for employment/work etc.
Apart from this, students/trainees from other states for studies in other educational institutions/institutions, persons related to various professions/businesses as paying guests and service workers in call centers are also staying on rent. Many of these persons are from drug, anti-social and criminal background and create ruckus in rented premises and public places. The landlords do not register the information of these tenants with the police, due to which there is a fear of disruption of the law and order situation. These orders will be in force from October 11 to December 10, 2024.
